These pages are published by Paul Masters and maintained by David Masters, the family historian. At present there are around about a 880 entries which form this site. If you are just after our GEDCOM file, please look at the Downloads section.

Our family history can be traced back to the late 1400's to Ludgvan in Cornwall. Recently, further research has shown that a particular pedigree goes as far back as the reign of Edward III (circa. 1300). This line of enquiry is still under investigation and will be shown as soon as the information can be corroborated.

By the early 1800s most of our ancestrage were living in the Falmouth area, particularly, Penryn (St. Gluvias) , Mylor, Budock & St. Keverne, more than likely making their living from the Port & Maritime trade. Falmouth, at this time, was the busiest port outside of London and the communications gateway of Britain.

Around 1872, elements of the family Pellowe undertook a journey to Pendleton, Salford in Manchester. This move was probably due to economic reasons. The Cornish Tin Industry was dying and the Cotton and Industrial Revolution in the North West was booming.

The cotton trade was also a major industry in Todmorden, and it is there that part of the family moved on to c. 1900. Descendants of the Pellowe line still live in Todmorden, but the rest have settled in different corners of England and as far away as Australia. The name is not strong in the surviving descendents, so this part of the Masters Family Website is dedicated to the colourful history and interesting tales which has been uncovered during our study of the Pellowe name.
